Provide physical education instruction to Special Education students.  Ensure that each student makes progress toward individual stated goals.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Education and/or Experience:
Master’s degree (M.A.) in (Adapted) Physical Education; Lifeguard certification; First Aid and CPR Certification or willingness to complete the certification

Certificates, License, Registration:
K-12 Michigan Certification; (SP) Physical Education for Students with Disabilities.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

Assists in the supervision of paraprofessionals: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws; responsibilities include training paraprofessionals; planning, assigning, and directing work

 

Physical Demands:

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  The employee must support and transfer students who are unable to completely bear weight on their own with the assistance of other staff.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
