Summary: 

 

The HR Generalist plays a crucial role in supporting the efficient operations of various HR processes including talent acquisition, employee relations, contract renewals, performance management, and providing backup support on credentialing and certifications.  The position will collaborate closely with leadership, employees, and external stakeholders to ensure compliance, efficiency, and a positive employee experience.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Talent Acquisition: Support recruitment strategies to attract top talent, including teachers, administrators, and support staff. Post job openings internally and externally using appropriate platforms.  Extend job offers and negotiate terms of employment within designated job grades (9-13).  Support the annual contract renewal process. 
  • Certifications and Credentialing: Provide backup support in processing teacher credentialing and permits, ensuring compliance with state regulations and accreditation standards. Assist in verifying qualifications and documentation required for teaching positions.  
  • Employee Relations: Provide support to employees and managers on matters related to employment policies, procedures, and workplace issues.  Address employee concerns and grievances in a timely and confidential manner.  Assist in conducting investigations and resolving workplace conflicts.  Support the performance evaluation process.
  • Unemployment Claims and Professional Conduct Requests: Manage the process of responding to unemployment claims and professional conduct requests. Liaise with relevant stakeholders to gather necessary information and documentation. Ensure compliance with legal requirements and organizational policies.
  • Fingerprinting and Background Checks: Facilitate the fingerprinting process for new hires and contracted staff at KRESA and local districts.  Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

 

Must have knowledge of and comply with the policies and procedures contained in the Kalamazoo RESA handbook.

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in human resources, preferably with a focus on talent acquisition, employee relations or performance management.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations.
  • Effective analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Certificates, License, Registration:


HR-related certification is desirable but not required.
