Summary
Specializes in assessment and treatment of speech and language impairments, engaging in intervention services for children in Kalamazoo County with a culturally responsive lens. Multidisciplinary role, providing strategies and support to colleagues and families around language and communication as well as supporting other areas of development within a primary service provider model.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform developmental assessments for children aged 0-5
- Reinforces home-based activities designed to support child’s optimal development through regular home visits
- Develops Individualized Family Support Plan (IFSP) for family and child
- Develop Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for preschool-age children
- Advocates for optimal child development opportunities for families
- Maintains records as required by law and administrative regulations
- Use evidenced-based coaching to collaborate and teach caregivers about developmental expectations
- Collaboration with other home visiting and social service agencies to support the whole child and whole family
- Promotes public awareness for early intervention
- Reviews student files to obtain information prior to evaluation to determine appropriate tests and to ensure that adequate information is available.
- Administers, scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests.
- Attends MET, IEP and/or IFSP meetings.
- Collaborates with local districts to develop and implement individualized plans for assigned students to meet individual needs, interests, and abilities.
- Reviews treatment plan, and assesses individual performance to modify, change, or write new programs.
- Models language facilitation techniques in home, daycare, preschool and community sites, providing training on language learning activities.
- Maintains records as required by law and administrative regulations.
- Acts as consultant to educational, medical, and other professional groups.

Education and/or Experience:
Master’s degree (M.A. or M.S.) in Speech and language. Preferred experience in Early Childhood setting.
Certificates, License, Registration:
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from American Speech, Language and Hearing Association, licensure in Michigan.
